About Howard's Jewelry
In 1953, while working as a bookkeeper in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, Howard Unger bought an assortment of fashion jewelry from a supplier based in Chicago. This was the first purchase for what would later become known as Howard’s Jewelry. Howard continued buying and selling wholesale fashion jewelry on a part time basis until 1961 when he made it a full time endeavor, and then incorporated the business in 1974. On July 1, 1981, Howard Unger sold the company to his daughter, Peggy and her husband, Richard Fox, who had been working for the company for a number of years.
During the next 24 years, Richard and Peggy grew and expanded Howard's Jewelry, Inc. into a nationally recognized wholesale distributor of fashion jewelry and giftware. In 2004 Richard and Peggy welcomed a third generation family member, their son, David Fox, to their management team. The growth of Howard's Jewelry throughout the past 50 plus years have required three moves to increasingly larger warehouse and showroom spaces which has brought them to their current headquarters in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Although the company has seen many changes over the years, their mission to find and supply, in the best interest of its retail customers, quality merchandise while maintaining the ideals of honesty and integrity is as prevalent today as it was when Howard made that first purchase. |
